CHICAGO —The estate of a woman is suing a Dolton nursing home, alleging negligence that ultimately hastened her death.
Richard Zinke filed a complaint on Feb. 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dolton Nursing & Rehab LLC and Aperion Care Dolton, Nursing Home, alleging that staff misevaluated Patricia Lucado, who was a patient at the Dolton facility from April 17, 2014 until her death on June 22, 2014.
The plaintiff, on behalf of Lucado's estate, alleges that staff at Dolton Nursing & Rehab failed to properly assess the deceased, mistakenly saying she was a low risk for skin breakdown. According to the suit, because of this mistake, Lucado suffered pressure ulcers and skin breakdown that contributed to her death.
The plaintiff seeks compensation in excess of $50,000. He is represented by Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
