CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing over a claim that she was given flawed advice about improperly packaged medication.

Laurie Buffardi is suing Caremark PHC LLC, Coram LLC, Caremark Illinois Specialty Pharmacy LLC, Caremark LLC and CVS Caremark Advanced Technology Pharmacy LLC.

Buffardi filed a complaint on Feb. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that a pharmacist said intravenous medication that had been exposed to cold could be used after it reached room temperature.

According to the complaint, the medication was received on February 21, 2014 and was administered on February 26, 2014, harming the plaintiff. Buffardi holds the defendants responsible for allegedly not packaging the medication to protect it from the cold and giving incorrect information about its safety.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for excess of $50,000. She is represented by John J. Simonetti of Marino & Simonetti in Chicago.
