Wife sues freight liner company alleging wrongful death

Truck

CHICAGO – A woman is suing a trucking company and its driver over the alleged wrongful death of her husband.

Tamara Driscoll, as special administrator of the estate of Tracy B. Driscoll, filed a complaint on March 8 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Gabriel Reyes and Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., citing wrongful death. Anxiter Inc. is listed as a respondent in discovery.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 19 in the village of Alsip, her decedent was hit by Reyes, while driving as an employee of the defendant, resulting in injuries that led to his death. The plaintiff holds Reyes and Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. responsible because Reyes allegedly failed to operate the tractor-trailer with safety and proper lookout and at an excessive rate of speed.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs of suit. She is represented by Craig D. Brown of Meyer & Flowers LLC in Chicago.
