Multiple hospitals, care facilities accused of wrongful death

CHICAGO – A Markham woman is suing hospitals and nursing facilities alleging the wrongful death of her mother.

April Stone-Allen, as independent administrator of the estate of Reba Mae Stone, filed a complaint on March 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Loyola University Medical Center, West Suburban Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC, Berkshire Nursing and Rehab Center LLC and Rush University Medical Center, citing wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Loyola University Medical Center, West Suburban Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC, Berkshire Nursing and Rehab Center LLC and Rush University Medical Center allegedly failed to provide necessary care and treatment to prevent the progression of wounds and infection. The suit states Stone suffered from pressure ulcers that resulted in her death.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation of more than $50,000 from each defendant, plus the costs of suit. She is represented by Vincent B. Browne of Kent M. Lucaccioni LTD in Chicago.
