Customer sues Subway restaurant, employees after restaurant worker pointed gun at him

CHICAGO — A customer is suing a Chicago Subway restaurant, saying he suffered injuries and emotional distress when a restaurant employee allegedly threatened him with a gun in 2014.

Travis Allison filed a lawsuit March 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against Joshy Thekkaniyil, Ryan Munoz and Ren-Thek LLC, doing business as Ren-Thek Subway and Subway, alleging negligence and failure to provide security for its customers and failure to supervise its employees.

According to the complaint, on March 17, 2014, Allison was at the Subway, 2008 N. Halsted, when a man identified as restaurant employee Hernan Saucedo allegedly intentionally assaulted, yelled at, threatened, provoked and pointed a gun at him. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to protect him from their employee and wrongfully allowed the employee to bring a gun onto their premises.

Allison seeks more than $50,000, plus legal costs He is represented by attorney Michael T. Friedman of Michael T. Friedman & Associates PC in Chicago.
