Patient accuses Homewood long-term nursing facility of poor care

Backinjury

CHICAGO — A patient is suing a Homewood long-term nursing facility, alleging negligence led to injuries and suffering.

Frederick Buckner filed a lawsuit March 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against suing South Suburban Rehabilitation Center LLC in Homewood, alleging negligence resulting in injury and violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to exercise due care and caution in providing care, treatment and supervision.

According to the complaint, Buckner began treatment April 28, 2014, and has since suffered from pressure sores, skin breakdowns, falls and infection. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide adequate assistance and supervision to prevent the development and worsening of his condition.

Buckner seeks more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Steven J. Malman of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates PC in Chicago.
