Patient blames Northwestern Medical for hand injury troubles

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Northwestern's health care groups, alleging negligence resulting in injuries.

Paula Thomas filed a lawsuit March 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwestern  Medical Faculty Foundation, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Dr. Danielle McGee, alleging negligence resulting in injury and failure to provide adequate medical care and treatment.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 12, 2009, Thomas fell on a tree root, resulting in an injury in her right hand. The plaintiff alleges the defendants at Northwestern Memorial failed to properly treat her in the emergency room and did not prescribe an antibiotic after the treatment.

The plaintiff seeks $50,000, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorneys at Driscoll Law Offices PC in Naperville, and Ronaldson & Kuchler LLC in Chicago.
