Patient blames health service provider for injuries

CHICAGO — A patient is suing a health care provider and two medical professionals, alleging negligence resulting in injury. 

Dawn Breznek filed a lawsuit March 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health And Hospitals Corporation, Dr. Kannan Sundar and Dr. Ryan Kooperman, alleging negligence and failure to provide adequate assistance and supervision in giving medical care and treatment.

According to the complaint, on April 21, 2015, Breznek suffered injuries and has incurred damages after a medical procedures. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to detect, diagnose and repair the perforation of her transverse colon before completing the medical procedures. The suit says this caused the plaintiff to suffer injuries of a personal and pecuniary nature.

Breznek requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of court's jurisdictional limit. She is represented by attorney Brion W. Doherty of Motherway & Napleton LLP in Chicago.
