Administrator files suit against rehabilitation facility alleging ulcers contributed to man's death

CHICAGO – An independent administrator is suing a rehabilitation facility alleging that it knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide proper assistance and supervision in giving care and treatment.

Judith Adams, independent administrator of the estate of Michael Adams, filed a complaint on March 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden-Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc., AldenLakeland and Alden Lakeland Rehab & HCC, citing alleged negligence caused her decedent's death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between April 1, 2014, and June 17, 2014, Michael Adams a developed several pressure ulcers that contributed to his death in April 2015. The plaintiff holds Alden-Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc., AldenLakeland and Alden Lakeland Rehab & HCC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to assist, supervise and take measures to prevent her decedent from developing pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount of more than $50,000, plus the costs of suit. She is represented by Brian J. Holmes of Hurley, McKenna & Mertz PC in Chicago.
