Wrongful death suit filed against Columbus Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Inc., SIR Management Inc.

Lawyer

CHICAGO – A woman has filed suit against two health care entities alleging that their negligence led to her decedent's death.

Charlotte Morris, as independent administrator of the estate of Carolyn Morris, filed a complaint on March 31 in Cook County Circuit Court against Columbus Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Inc. and SIR Management Inc., citing negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between June 12, 2014, and April 9, 2015, Carolyn Morris developed a stage IV pressure sore to her sacrum that worsened until the time of her death on April 9, 2015. The plaintiff holds Columbus Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Inc. and SIR Management Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to appropriately assess Carolyn Morris' condition and failed to establish preventive measures to avoid the development and deterioration of multiple pressure sores.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount of more than $50,000, plus attorney's fees and the costs of suit. She is represented by Margaret P. Battersby Black and Jacob D. Radecki of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
