Estate alleges Oak Lawn rehab center negligence caused relative's death

Nursinghome

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing an Oak Lawn rehab center, alleging negligence led to a relative's death.

Rodeane Chaison, administrator for the estate of Darrel J. Chiason, filed a lawsuit April 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against Oak Lawn Respiratory And Rehabilitation Center LLC, Infinity Healthcare Management of Illinois LLC, registered nurse Pamela K. Davis and Advocate Health And Hospitals Corporation, alleging negligence in knowingly violating the Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide required supervision and assistance in care and treatment.

According to the complaint, between April 3-16, 2014, Darrel J. Chaison suffered from the development of pressure sores to Stage II in his sacrum, which worsened and contributed to his death Nov. 6, 2014. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to appropriately assess Chaison's condition and failed to provide necessary treatment to prevent the development and deterioration of multiple pressure sores.

Rodeane Chaison seeks a trial by jury, more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs of suit. She is represented by attorneys Daniel A. Goldfaden and Cari F. Silverman of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
