Family alleges Elmwood Park care facility negligence caused relative's death

Nursing

CHICAGO — The family of a man who died while a resident in an Elmwood Park nursing care facility is suing the nursing home, alleging staff should be held responsible for his death.

Angeline C. Klocek, as estate administrator for the estate of Stanley Kloeck Jr.  filed a lawsuit April 7, in Cook County Circuit Court against Elmwood Care and S.I.R. Management, alleging they knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide required supervision and appropriate wound care and treatment.

According to the complaint, between May 29- July 28, 2014, Stanley Klocek Jr. developed pressure sores that worsened and caused his death. The plaintiff alleges Elmwood Care and S.I.R. Management failed to assess Stanley Klocek's condition, and failed to provide necessary care and services to prevent the development and worsening of pressure sores.

Angeline Klocek seeks a trial by jury, damages in excess of court's jurisdictional limits and court costs. She is represented by attorneys Timothy S. Tomasik and Patrick J. Giese of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman LLC in Chicago.
