Father blames school for son's injuries

CHICAGO — A father is suing a Markham school district and junior high, alleging negligence caused his son's injuries. 

Creed Finner filed a lawsuit April 4, in the Cook County Circuit Court against Prairie-Hills School District 144 and Prairie-Hills Junior High School, alleging they failed to exercise reasonable care and diligence to keep and maintain the safeness of their premises and facilities.

According to the complaint, on April 1, 2015, Michael Finner sustained serious and permanent injuries caused by contaminated water he drank at the school. The plaintiff alleges the defendants allegedly failed to keep and maintain its premises free of contaminated water and failed to inspect and repair the water pipes to prevent from any contamination.

Creed Finner seeks a trial by jury and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by Matthew B. Karchmar of Karchmar & Lambert PC in Chicago.
