Family blames health provider for relative's death

Broken leg

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing an Evergreen Park health care provider, alleging negligence caused a relative's death.

Elizabeth Gregory, as independent estate administrator for Christine Morton, filed a lawsuit April 3, in the Cook County Circuit Court against Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park and, as respondent in discovery, Dr. Amar Sunkari, alleging they knowingly violated the Survival Act of the state of Illinois by failing to provide adequate medical assistance and supervision.

According to the complaint, between April 13-9, 2014, Christine Morton suffered injuries including a left hip fracture and a left cortical contusion to her head as a result from falling at Little Company of Mary. These injuries led to her death May 8, 2014, the suit says.

Gregory alleges the defendant failed to assess Morton's condition and failed to provide appropriate medical attention to prevent her from falling.

Gregory seeks a trial by jury and more than $50,000 in damages. She is represented by attorneys Nicole T. Schroeder and Steven L. Levin of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
