Lending company alleges customer failed to pay promissory note

CHICAGO — A lending company is suing a customer, alleging breach of contract and unpaid debt of more than $244,000.


Stewart Title Guaranty Company filed a lawsuit April 12, in the Cook County Circuit Court against Warren Barr, alleging failure to pay the total amount contained in a 2010 promissory note. 

According to the complaint, on Stewart Title has been damaged for Barr's failure to pay $160, 379.22 from an agreement dated Nov. 30, 2010. The plaintiff alleges Barr has failed to pay the sum despite attempts by Stewart Title to collect.

Stewart Title Guaranty seeks $244,524.32, which includes interest after March 31, 2016 at the rate of $43.94 per diem, court costs and any further relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorneys Carrie A. Dolan and Caroline K. Kwak of Cohon Raizes & Regal LLP in Chicago.
