CHICAGO – An estate independent administrator is suing a nursing care center alleging negligence caused her decedent's death.
Rosemarie Barry, as independent administrator of the estate of Sylvia Raucci, filed a complaint on April 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Fairview Care Center of Joliet LLC alleging that the nursing care center knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide adequate and proper nursing and personal care.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between August 30, 2013, and Sept. 20, 2013, Raucci developed multiple pressure sores that led to her death on Sept. 29, 2013. The plaintiff holds Fairview Care Center of Joliet LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly and accurately assess her decedent's condition and failed in supervising the care and treatment to prevent the development and deterioration of multiple pressure sores.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits plus costs of suit. She is represented by Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group LLC in Chicago.
