CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing an Oak Park nursing and rehab facility, alleging negligence caused his mother's death.
Roy Skelly, as administrator for the estate of Angela Skelly filed a lawsuit April 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Paramount of Oak Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, alleging the facility knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide adequate assistance and supervision in care and treatment.
According to the complaint, on April 7, 2015, Angela Skelly, a resident of Paramount, fell on the washroom floor, which caused her to sustain injuries. The suit says Skelly also experienced dehydration and malnutrition that contributed to her death April 29, 2015. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to properly supervise and monitor his mother's condition and failed to provide adequate assistance to prevent her from falling and becoming dehydrated.
Roy Skelly seeks a trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Philip J. Berenz of Berenz Law Network Professional Corporation in Chicago.
