CHICAGO – An estate independent administrator alleges that negligent care at a Joliet facility caused the death of her decedent.
Sousan Soulian, as independent administrator of the estate of Geraldine Paraday, filed a complaint on April 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Villa Franciscan and Presence Life Connections alleging that they knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failure in providing the required assistance and supervisions in care and treatment.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Feb. 2, 2012, and Sept. 5, 2013, Paraday developed pressure sores to her lower extremity, severe dehydration and infection, which contributed to her death on Sept. 9, 2013. The plaintiff holds Presence Villa Franciscan and Presence Life Connections responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly assess her decedent's condition and failed to provide adequate assistance, supervision and hydration.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs of suit. She is represented by Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group LLC in Chicago.
