CHICAGO — A son is suing a Chicago-area health care facility, alleging its negligence caused his mother's death.

Ronald Kronenberger, as executor of the estate of Geraldine Kronenberger, filed a complaint April 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Helia Southbelt Healthcare, Bridgemark Healthcare LLC, Rosewood Care Center Swansea and HSM Management Services,Inc., alleging they knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to provide adequate assistance and supervision in the care and treatment of his mother.

According to the complaint, between Jan. 15, 2013 and Sept. 15, 2014, Geraldine Kronenberger suffered numerous falls resulting in a fracture in her left hip that required a hemiarthroplasty that caused her to sustain pain. Her condition worsened, leading to her death Dec. 23, 2014, the suit says.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly assist and supervise to prevent his mother from falling and developing complications.

Ronald Kronenberger seeks a trial by jury and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorneys Mary K. Volk and Jordan S. Powell of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
