Patient accuses health care providers of negligent treatment

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Downers Grove health care providers, alleging negligence caused her skin burns.

Corneilia Hoatson Mihelich filed a lawsuit April 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, registered nurses Lorann Cwiakala, Lali Mathia, Maconcepcion Tan, Colleen Fiedler and Rajamma Rao, Dr. Marc Fajardo, Hinsdle Orthopaedic Associates SC, Breg Inc., Orthofix Inc. and Post-op Partners LLC, alleging negligence in failing to exercise required standards of medical care. 

According to the complaint, on April 17, 2014, Mihelich sustained third degree burns on her skin during a procedure at Advocate Good Samaritan. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly apply the use of Polar Care Cube and failed to inspect and provide an insulation barrier.

Mihelich seeks a trial by jury and more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Daniel T. Madigan of Motherway & Napleton, LLP in Chicago.
