Mother blames Downers Grove health service provider for daughter's death

Medical malpractice 07

CHICAGO — A mother is suing Downers Grove health care providers, alleging their negligence caused her daughter's death.

Sarah Elizabeth Wojtovich, as administrator for the estate of Lillie Morgan Wojtovich,  filed a lawsuit April 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Dr. Summer Wirth and DuPage Medical Group, alleging they failed to exercise care in providing labor and delivering nursing services.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 10, 2014, Lillie Morgan Wojtovich died 24 minutes after she was born. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide proper obstetrical care by performing a bedside ultrasound to accurately determine the fetal heart rate or an operative delivery to hasten the birth of her child.

Sarah Wojtovich seeks a trial by jury and an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits. She is represented by attorney Elizabeth A. Kaveny of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny LLC in Chicago.
