CHICAGO — A patient is suing an Arlington Heights hospital and doctor, alleging negligence in surgery that led to complications for the plaintiff.

Denise Simon filed a lawsuit April 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. David Mahon, Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights and Advanced Surgical Associates, alleging they failed to exercise the degree of care, skill and diligence in performing medical operative procedures.

According to the complaint, on March 14, 2015, Simon suffered injuries and incurred expenses after undergoing surgical procedures that led to complications, including sharp abdominal pain, gas and bloating. She required additional surgery March 23, 2015, the suit says.

The plaintiff alleges defendants failed to further assess Simon's condition and failed to properly perform the surgical procedures to avoid and/or take measures for any complications.

Simon seeks a trial by jury, damages of up to $50,000, plus the costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Richard I. Levin of Levin, Riback Law Group PC in Chicago.
