Parents, child file suit against health care providers over obstetrical care

Medical malpractice 07

CHICAGO – A couple has filed suit against a doctor alleging that the mother was not properly evaluated during her pregnancy.

Gerald Sallis Jr., a minor, by his parents Tequila Sallis and Gerald Sallis filed a complaint on April 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Nathalie McCammon-Chase, McCammon-Chase Total Wellness Center Inc., West Suburban Medical Center and Shelia Walker, RN, citing alleged medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Tequila Sallis delivered her son by crash Cesarean section in August 2014 and Gerald Sallis Jr. sustained personal injuries that are permanent and pecuniary in nature. As a result, they incurred and will continue to incur various hospital and medical expenses, the suit states. The plaintiffs holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to fully inform the plaintiffs of the risks of continuing pregnancy versus delivery, failed to perform proper workup for pre-eclampsia, failed to timely admit Tequila Sallis to the hospital, failed to appropriately monitor her condition and failed to properly perform their duties and obligations.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgement against defendants and seek from each of them the amount of $50,000. They are represented by Keith A. Hebeisen and Sarah F. King of Clifford Law Offices PC in Chicago.
