CHICAGO — A son is suing a Chicago long-term nursing care facility, alleging negligence caused his mother's death.
Robert Pawlowski, as a son and independent administrator for the estate of Grace Pawlowski, filed a lawsuit April 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Norwood Crossing Association doing business as Norwood Crossing, alleging it knowingly violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to exercise reasonable care and caution in its care and treatment services.
According to the complaint, on July 20, 2014, Grace Pawlowski sustained injuries that resulted from falling at Norwood Crossing, including a fractured left hip and a head injury that required hospitalization and surgery. Her condition deteriorated until her death Aug. 22, 2014, the suit says.
The plaintiff alleges Norwood Crossing failed to provide adequate assistance and supervision to prevent his mother from falling and suffering injuries and failed to assess Grace Pawlowsk's condition to prevent her from deteriorating even worse.
Robert Pawlowski seeks a trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Matthew K. Henry of the Law Offices Of Steven J. Malman & Associates PC in Chicago.
