CHICAGO – An attorney has filed suit against a former client alleging that the client is attempting to discontinue fee payments.

Joshua Chaet, doing business as Chaet Geleerd LLP, filed a complaint on March 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Herzum Software LLC and Herzum Inc. seeking emergency injunctive and declaratory relief.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 13, 2013, the parties entered an attorney-client relationship to recover a judgment of more than $600,000. The suit states that the defendants agreed to assign the plaintiff 20 percent of the amount recovered, and a settlement agreement was reached in March 2014. The plaintiff holds Herzum Software LLC and Herzum Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly attempted to discontinue the fees owed to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks injunctive and declaratory relief, and that plaintiff completed performance of contemplated services in securing the agreement. He is represented by Patterson Law Firm LLC.
