CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Chicago and city police officers, alleging wrongful death in firing a gun at a man who was retreating.
Lelar Robinson, special administrator of the estate of Jeffery Y. Kemp Jr., filed a lawsuit March 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago, individually and as principal of Chicago police officers John Doe and Henry Doe, alleging abuse, excessive force, violation of civil rights and violation of human rights.
According to the complaint, on April 17, 2015, Kemp was shot while retreating by Chicago police officers. The suit says he sustained severe injuries which led to his death April 18, 2015. The plaintiff alleges the defendants fired their guns at Kemp without any justification as well as failing to call for medical assistance promptly.
Robinson seeks judgment in a monetary amount to satisfy the judicial limitation of the court, cost of the suit and any further relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorneys George G. Argionis, Al Koritsaris and Loukas N. Kalliantasis of Argionis & Associates LLC in Chicago.
