CHICAGO – A man has filed suit against two construction companies working on a South Justine Street project alleging he was injured while riding his bike.
Clinton Duckworth Jr. filed a complaint on May 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Father and Sons Home Improvement II Inc. and Jack's Construction & Remodeling Inc. citing construction negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 19, he was seriously injured when he was knocked off his bicycle by drywall being transported by defendants' employees or agents who were attempting to cross the sidewalk. As a result, he alleges has suffered disability, disfigurement, pain and suffering, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Father and Sons Home Improvement II Inc. and Jack's Construction & Remodeling Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to ensure that the public way was clear before attempting to walk over it, failed to warn of the dangerous condition, failed to barricade the area, failed to adequately supervise their work, failed to secure the area where the accident occurred and failed to yield right of way.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for the sum in excess of the jurisdictional amount, plus costs for the action. He is represented by Christopher Panio of Panio Law Offices in Chicago.
