Visitor blames U. of Chicago Medical Center for injuries

Slip01

CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing the University of Chicago Medical Center, alleging negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Brenda Gary filed a lawsuit May 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against the University of Chicago Medical Center alleging negligence in failing to keep facilities safe and free from hazards.

According to the complaint, on June 4, 2013, while Gary was visiting her husband at the medical center, she suffered injuries when a hospital employee opened a door that suddenly struck Gary in the face and knocked her to the ground. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to properly maintain its facilities.

The suit says the plaintiff sustained severe and permanent injuries, plus medical expenses.

Gary seeks judgment in excess of this court's limit, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorney Cannon D. Lambert Sr. of Karchmar & Lambert PC in Chicago.
