Customer blames Jewel-Osco for injuries

Slip01

CHICAGO — A customer is suing Jewel-Osco, alleging the store's negligence caused her to fall and suffer injuries.

Felecia Noland filed a lawsuit March 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jewel-Osco, alleging negligence in failing to maintain facilities free from any hazards that could cause an accident.

According to the complaint, on July 22, 2014, Noland was injured when she slipped and fell due to a clear liquid on the floor of the SuperValu store, doing business as Jewel/Osco, at 423 E. Dundee Road, Palatine. The plaintiff alleges Jewel-Osco failed to keep its floor free of any contaminants that may cause accidents to others.

The suit says Noland suffered internal and external injuries of a personal and lasting nature that will lead to large medical expenses.

Noland seeks judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Amanda Martin of Parente & Norem PC in Chicago.
