Family files suit alleging negligent medical care caused injuries

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO – A minor and his parents have filed a suit against several doctors and health care facilities alleging negligent care during a pregnancy.

Frank Manno, a disabled minor, by his parents and next friends Dara Manno and Mario Manno and as individuals, filed a complaint on Feb. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Sherman Hospital, Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., Dr. Jude Duval, Maternal Fetal Consultants S.C., Dr. Michael J. Riermaier and Associates for Women's Healthcare alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2013, Frank Manno developed hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy as a result of negligence on the part of the defendants. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide professional and adequate care to Dara Manno during her high-risk pregnancy and delivery.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants for an amount of more than $50,000 and any further relief as this court sees fit. They are represented by David Loughnane of Zukowski, Rogers, Flood & McArdle in Crystal Lake.
