Patient accuses orthopedic medical devices manufacturer of negligence

CHICAGO — An Illinois patient is suing the manufacturers of orthopedic implants, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Dennis Douglas of Quincy filed a lawsuit March 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Zimmer US Inc., Zimmer Inc., Zimmer Holdings Inc., ZImmer Surgical Inc., Zimmer Daniel and Zimmer Daniel & Associates, alleging negligence in manufacturing defective orthopedic implants and selling them to consumers.

According to the complaint, on July 22, 2008, Douglas suffered injuries will continue to suffer as a result of the defective implant in his hip. The plaintiff alleges the defendants had knowledge of the implant's defects but failed to provide adequate warning to consumers.

Douglas seeks a trial by jury, judgment in excess of the limits of this court, plus interest and all court cost. He is represented by attorney Peter J. Flowers of Meyers & Flowers LLC in Chicago.
