CHICAGO — A Washington state couple is suing Boeing, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries on a flight.

Vashti Escobedo and Ray C. Escobedo of Gig Harbor, Washington, filed a lawsuit April 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Boeing Company, alleging negligence in failing to properly maintain an airworthy aircraft.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 13, 2015, Vashti Escobedo and Ray C. Escobedo suffered severe headaches and dizziness as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning aboard Alaska Airlines flight 693. The plaintiffs allege Boeing failed to maintain and evaluate its aircraft, which resulted in fumes from the engine entering the cabin of the plane.

The Escobedos seek judgment of more than $50,000. They are represented by attorneys Joseph A. Power Jr. and Kathryn L. Conway of Power Rodgers and Smith PC in Chicago, Zoe Littlepage and Rainey Booth of Littlepage Booth in Houston, and Rick Friedman and Sean Gamble of Friedman Rubin in Bremerton, Washington.
