CHICAGO — A customer is suing an Elmhurst bar, alleging its negligence allowed him to be assaulted by another patron.
Christopher Jennings filed a lawsuit May 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Snuggery Elmhurst, Inc., doing business as The Snuggery, and Jerry A. Pelikan, alleging violations of the Dram Shop Act, in providing drinks that could intoxicate customers.
According to the complaint, on May 24, 2015, Jennings suffered several bodily injuries when he was assaulted at the The Snuggery by Pelikan. The suit says Pelikan struck Jennings in the face four times.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate security and personnel to prevent a customer from hitting another customer while intoxicated.
The lawsuit states Jennings required hospitalization due to pain and suffering, leading to medical expenses, disability, disfigurement and lost wages.
Jennings seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs and any further relief the court deems fit. He is represented by attorney Bruno R. Marasso of Romanuci & Blandin LLC in Chicago.
