Mother blames medical group for baby's health troubles

CHICAGO — A mother is suing an Evanston hospital and other health care providers, alleging negligence caused her newborn baby to sustain injuries.

Cinnamon Brown, as mother and next friend of Nia Brown Love filed a lawsuit May 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Presence St. Francis Hospital, Dr. Michele A. Bucciero, Women's Healthcare Associates LLC, and Presence Medical Group and Presence Medical Group - RHC, alleging negligence in failing to provide proper medical care to prevent injuries.

According to the complaint, on June 21, 2014, at Presence St. Francis Hospital, Cinnamon Brown delivered Nia Brown Love who sustained a a hypoxic ischemic injury to her brain. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide proper care to the plaintiff during the delivery of her baby, including a timely Caesarian section.

Cinnamon Brown seeks a trial by jury and judgment for a sum in the minimum amount required by the court. She is represented by attorney David R. Barry Jr. of Corboy & Demetrio PC in Chicago.
