Wrongful death suit filed against Emergency Medicine Physicians of Cook County, others

Medical malpractice 05

CHICAGO – An estate administrator has filed a suit against several medical providers over claims that a failure to order necessary tests and proper assessments led to a woman's death.

Jesse Dominguez, individually and as administrator of the estate of Meagan Dominguez, filed a complaint on May 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Allison Sweet, Asim Elmahboub, Mohammed Shabbir, Antonio Marra, Emergency Medicine Physicians of Cook County LLC, Hospitalists & Pediatric Subspecialists LTD and Franciscan Alliance Inc., citing wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between May 3, 2014, and May 5, 2014, Meagan Dominguez suffered from several medical conditions that led to her death of untreated septic shock. The plaintiff holds Allison Sweet, Elmahboub, Shabbir, Marra, Emergency Medicine Physicians of Cook County LLC, Hospitalists & Pediatric Subspecialists LTD and Franciscan Alliance Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly diagnose and provide adequate professional care to Meagan Dominguez while she was under their care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Mark S. Bishop of Law Offices of Mark S. Bishop LLC in Warrenville and David C. Gibss Jr. of Gibbs & Associates Law Firm LLC in Mason, Ohio.
