CHICAGO — An Evanston police officer is suing his pension board, alleging it owes him a pension benefit for a 2010 injury.
Kevin Campbell, a police sergeant, filed a lawsuit June 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Evanston Police Pension Board/Fund, board president Timothy Schoolmaster, and trustees Mark Weisburg, Ryan Glen and Aaron Wernick, alleging failure to uphold the Americans with Disabilities Act when they denied the plaintiff's disability pension.
According to the complaint, on June 12, 2010, Campbell injured his hip during a foot pursuit and applied for disability pension June 4, 2014. The suit says the defendants denied the plaintiff's disability pension based on a report that Campbell was not injured while on duty.
Campbell seeks review of the decision and records, order to reverse the pension board's decision and any further relief the court sees fit. He is represented by attorney Barry A. Ketter of Addison.
