Patient alleges health providers' negligence caused eye injuries

CHICAGO — An Oak Lawn woman is suing an Arlington Heights eye care center, alleging negligence caused her to suffer pain in her eyes. 

Joyce A. Larson filed a lawsuit May 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Vision One Lasik Center SC, doing business as Vision One Lasik Center in Arlington Heights and Dr. William B. Brand SC, also known as Vision One, alleging negligence in that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

According to the complaint, on May 31, 2014, Larson suffered physical injuries including limited vision loss and pain to her eyes while under the care of the defendants. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to diagnose that she was not suitable for a Lasik procedure and failed to properly perform the operation or inform the plaintiff any risk associated with the procedure.

Larson seeks damages of at least $50,000. She is represented by attorney W. Joason Gatzulis of The Law Office of W. Jason Gatzulis in Chicago.
