Patient alleges Chicago hospitals' negligence caused suffering

Medical malpractice 01

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Chicago health care providers, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff suffering pain.

Maurice Commander filed a lawsuit June 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against GlenCrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd. and Presence Chicago Hospitals Network, doing business as Presence St. Francis Hospital, alleging failing to provide proper care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, Commander is suffering from pressure ulcer which developed and progressed, eventually resulting in an infection. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly provide adequate supervision while providing necessary medical attention to plaintiff.

The suit says Presence St. Francis Hospital failed to properly evaluate Commander's condition while applying medical treatment, which resulted in the plaintiff's ulcer progressing to severe stages to the point that he needed medical and surgical treatment.

Commander seeks judgment of more than $50,000 against each defendant, plus interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney David G. Pribyl of Dudley & Lake LLC in Libertyville.
