Family blames Arlington Heights health professionals for relative's death

CHICAGO — A family member is suing Arlington Heights health care professionals, alleging their negligence caused a relative's death.

Joseph Giolli, as executor of the estate of Ola Giolli, filed a lawsuit June 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against  Dr. Leo Kanev, Northwest Suburban Physicians LLC, and The Moorings of Arlington Heights LLC, doing business as The Moorings Health Care Center, alleging negligence in failing provide proper medical care to Ola Giolli.

According to the complaint, Ola Giolli was diagnosed with multiple medical conditions during her time as a resident at The Moorings. The lawsuit states she was treated by Kanev, whom she had not selected as a personal physician. Giolli died June 8, 2014, at Northwest Community Hospital of septic shock, urinary tract infection and appendicitis, the suit says. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants neglected to provide proper and professional medical care to Ola Giolli when they failed to evaluate her condition or provide the appropriate treatment in a timely manner.

Joseph Giolli seeks a trial by jury, judgment of $50,000 against each defendant, plus court costs. He is represented by attorney Michael E. Holden of Romanucci & Blandin, LLC in Chicago.
