Suit filed against Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp.

CHICAGO – A husband is suing has filed a complaint against two health care facilities over claims that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence that purportedly caused his wife's death.

Joseph Augelli, as independent executor of the estate of Janelle Augelli, filed a complaint on May 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp. alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 28, 2014, Janelle Augelli sustained physical injuries from falling on May 28, 2014, at the defendants' facility, which contributed to or caused her death on Oct. 5, 2014. The plaintiff holds Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate assistance and to exercise the degree of professional skill expected from them while treating Janelle Augelli in their facility.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000. He is represented by Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy, Ltd. of Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy LTD in Chicago.
