CHICAGO — A Chicago man is suing the city of Chicago and city police officers, alleging he was wrongfully arrested.
Theophilus Love II filed a lawsuit June 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago, and Chicago police officers M. Myles, G. Lee, P. Meager and Sgt. P. Arpaia, alleging violation of state and federal law in wrongfully identifying the plaintiff during an undercover drug operation.
According to the complaint, on July 1, 2013, Love was wrongfully arrested and prosecuted during a drug sting at 2316. W. Jackson Ave., which cost him his job and damages to his reputation. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly identify the person who got away during their undercover drug operation and, instead, accused the plaintiff being that person without providing any strong evidence to support their claim.
Love seeks a trial by jury, judgment against the defendant, compensatory damages, punitive damages and any further relief as the court sees fit. He is represented by attorney Daniel Nixa of The Nixa Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
