Cyclist alleges bicycle parts manufacturer's negligence caused injuries

Law money 01

CHICAGO — A cyclist is suing bicycle parts manufacturers, alleging their negligence caused him injuries.

Ron Rashid filed a complaint June 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., Martec Industrial Corporation and Johnny Sprockets Inc., alleging product liability in failing to properly inspect their product for any defects that could cause an injury or accident.

According to the complaint, on June 21, 2014, Rashid sustained physical injuries when his bicycle broke apart causing him to hit the ground on the Everett Road crossing over Interstate Highway 94 in Lake Forest. The plaintiff alleges the defendants designed, manufactured and distributed their products without properly inspecting each of them for defects or providing adequate warning to consumers as to the limitation of its use.

Rashid requests a trial by jury and judgment in excess of the jurisdictional limit of the court. He is represented by attorney David J. Rashid of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny in Chicago.
