Patient says care providers didn't use proper MRI machine

Medical malpractice 05

CHICAGO — A patient is suing The University of Chicago Medical Center, Geraldine Diaz, D.O., Laura Michalesko, CRNA and John Doe, health providers, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Miranda DeYoung filed a complaint on June 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 18, 2014, she sustained physical injuries including burns on the left side of her body as a result of a poorly performed medical procedure. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide an adequately sized MRI machine and to exercise proper care and precautions while performing the procedure on the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Clarke of Kralovec & Marquard, Chartered in Chicago.
