CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate is suing Presence Villa Scalabrini N&R, Presence RHC Senior Services, Presence Villa Scalabrini Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Villa Scalabrini Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Presence RHC Corporation and Presence Health Network, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries in a nursing care facility.
Karen Northern, special administrator of the estate of Roberta Northern, filed a complaint on June 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Roberta Northern.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Roberta Northern sustained several medical conditions that contributed to or caused her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to evaluate Roberta's condition and provide appropriate medical attention when she needed and failed to make sure that all her dietary needs were well taken care of.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
