Woman says village, motorist at fault in collision

Car accident 10

CHICAGO — A woman is suing fellow motorist Victoria J. Abrams and the Village of Northbrook, citing alleged negligence, failure to warn and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Corina G. Buenaventura filed a complaint on June 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that the municipality failed to maintain traffic lights in working condition and that Abrams failed to control her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 10 she sustained physical injuries including a closed head injury, cerebral concussion and other serious injuries when she was involved in a traffic collision. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the village allegedly failed to ensure its traffic lights were working properly and Abrams allegedly failed to timely apply her brakes.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by John C. Wunsch of John C. Wunsch, P.C. in Chicago.
