Physician accused of mistake in wrongful-death suit

Medical malpractice 04

CHICAGO — The administrator of a deceased man's estate has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Jerome Antony, M.D., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Cassie Ellis-Hunter, individually and as the independent administrator of the estate of Delano M. Hunter, filed a complaint on June 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against Antony, alleging that the physician failed to provide proper medical care to Delano M. Hunter.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, Delano M. Hunter experienced several medical conditions including lymphoma, which caused his death on Sept. 3, 2014. The plaintiff holds Antony responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly interpret the results of Delano M. Hunter's lab results, causing his condition to get worse and ultimately leading to his death.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael F. Bonamarte, Ashley H. Herschberger and Jacob D. Radecki of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
