Woman says Wal-Mart responsible for food poisoning

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries led to her food poisoning.

Nicole Johnson filed a complaint on June 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging that a Chicago Wal-Mart store sold hazardous items.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 26, 2014, she experienced pain from food poisoning after buying and consuming pre-cooked shrimp. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly inspect food items in its store for safety.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $74,999 plus court cost. She is represented by David Nemeroff of Nemeroff Law Offices, Ltd. in Chicago.
