Nursing home accused of negligence in care

Law money 08

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased man's estate is suing St. Pauls House & Health Care Center, alleging that shortcomings in nursing home care worsened various health conditions and hastened his death.

Teresa Fasso, as independent administrator for the estate of Cosimo Fasso, filed a complaint on June 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against St. Pauls House & Health Care Center alleging that the hospital failed to provide proper medical care to Cosimo Fasso.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, Cosimo Fasso was not properly safeguarded against or treated for pressure sores, respiratory distress, pneumonia, congestive heart failure exacerbation and infection, which the suit claims hastened his death on Oct. 16, 2013. The plaintiff holds St. Pauls House & Health Care Center responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision at all times to Cosimo Fasso and didn't properly evaluate his overall health.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount sufficient to satisfy the jurisdictional requirement of the court plus any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group, L.L.C. in Chicago.
