CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased man's estate is suing South Loop Living & Rehab Center LLC, South Loop Skilled Nursing Facility LLC, Warren Barr South Loop, St. Agnes Manor Inc. and St. Agnes Health Care and Rehab Center in a wrongful death suit alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Kimberly Johnson, as independent administrator of the estate of Richard Miller, filed a complaint on July 12, in the Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Miller while he was a resident in their facility.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, Miller suffered from health conditions including decubitus ulcers, dehydration, septic shock, sepsis, bacteremia and a MRSA infection, and alleges that Miller died on Aug. 20, 2015 from conditions caused and/or exacerbated by defendants' improper care. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to fully evaluate Miller's overall health condition as well as failing to provide proper medical attention when he was showing signs of dehydration.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
