Woman alleges negligence during childbirth

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — A mother is suing Melissa Keene, M.D.; Norman Ginsberg, M.D.; Marc Kleinberg, M.D.; Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation d/b/a Northwestern Medical Group; Northwestern Memorial Hospital; The Association for Women's Health Care Ltd. and Reproductive Genetics Institute Inc., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Amy Cutler, individually and as mother and next friend of Hannah Cutler, filed a complaint on July 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to properly monitor the plaintiff's unborn child during delivery.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, 2014, she and her unborn child, Hannah Cutler, suffered injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly monitor and evaluate Hannah Cutler's heart rate during childbirth.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court. She is represented by Kevin G. Burke of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny in Chicago.
